Washington 3rd graders spent the past month learning about bones, muscles and how they work together. As a culminating project, students had the opportunity to research information; plan a presentation; and learn how to code and prepare models using Spike and Sphero kits. Finally, they put together a showcase for parents and family members! #WCSmission

Mark your calendars! We are THRILLED to welcome the future class of 2036! If your child will be five years old before Aug. 1, 2023, we invite you to Kindergarten Round Up on March 21st. Please attend your home school for the round-up event; if you are unsure which elementary district you live in, please contact one of the school offices for additional information. Kindergarten Round-Up will contain important information about registration, immunizations, school safety, before & after school care, along with the STEM and Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs. Registration for all new K-12 families will open immediately following Kindergarten Round-Up. Registration for returning families will open on April 17, 2023. Registration information can be found at www.warsawschools.org/o/warsaw/page/registration1. All incoming kindergarten families interested in DLI must have pre-registration and registration completed by June 1 in order to be entered in the DLI lottery, which is tentatively scheduled for June 7. Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) is excited to share that the Warsaw Area Career Center Cosmetology School was recently licensed as a Beauty Culture School by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners. To celebrate, the public is invited to a Community Open House on Tuesday, February 28 from 4:00-7:00pm at the salon, which is located in Lakeview Middle School at 848 E. Smith Street. Visitors are welcome to access the Cosmetology School via Door 5, at the front of Lakeview. Students will be present to provide tours, answer questions, and offer sample hand massages, scalp massages and hair tinsel applications. The school will open to the general public for salon appointments beginning on March 15. During the month of March, appointments will be available from 12:00-3:15 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Grand Opening specials will be offered throughout March as well. This morning, Edgewood Middle School hosted Futures in Manufacturing, an OrthoWorx sponsored event. Abbi Richcreek, Edgewood PLTW teacher, provided over 50 students with an opportunity to see a glimpse in the life of manufacturing. 15 volunteers from a variety of manufacturing companies including Zimmer Biomet, Paragon Medical, Depuy and Medtronic worked with students in small groups on their packaging designs. Afterward, students got to test the designs in action through a variety of experiments.
