Congratulations to the Advanced Bands performance at Friday night's band contest. The band received a Gold Rating from all 3 judges. They were also awarded a special “with distinction” award for their outstanding scores. After their performance, the students received a standing ovation from the audience. Congratulations to Lizbet Tepo-Valazquez and Phillip Boston for being acknowledged as the top fundraisers for the Pi Day Challenge. A big thank you to all the students who took part and raised $560. Lakeview's PTO will ensure the funds are put to good use. To celebrate, Lakeview students gathered in the gym, formed a line, and had the chance to present a pie to Lakeview's principal Todd Braddock, SRO Lewis Fuller, and Social Studies teacher Brandon Murphy. The Advanced Orchestra students did an AMAZING job at ISSMA Contest this past weekend! They traveled to Knox for the event and had a great performance. The students earned a GOLD rating from all three judges! This Gold award shows all the hard work our students put into preparing the music and refining their skills. Congratulations to Regional National History Day Champions Olivia Ganser (Documentary - Oskar Schindler) and Alex Christopher (Exhibit - Bob Dylan). Both presented their individual projects at NHD - Indiana at Columbia City High School on Saturday, February 17th and will move on to compete at the State contest held at Marion University, Indianapolis on Saturday, April 20th. Today in Tiger Time, students from Mrs. Boggs’s class played with fire! These students chose to read Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 over Christmas break. They came back and passed a test over the book with at least 80% accuracy. Mr. McCollom set up an engaging lesson over the combustion point of different materials. These highly trained law enforcement officers play an integral role in promoting community-oriented policing, working collaboratively with schools to ensure safety and security. It's an opportune moment to express our gratitude to our SROs, recognizing their impact in connecting with young individuals and bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community. As mentors, educators, and enforcers, they serve a unique and invaluable role in the education community. Todd Braddock, Lakeview Middle School Principal shared, “ Officer Lewis Fuller has many excellent qualities that I appreciate as the building principal. He is dependable, trustworthy, and solution focused. Not only does he help keep our school safe, he builds positive relationships with our students through his warm and friendly demeanor. Mr. Weaver's Automation & Robotics are learning how engineers select mechanisms. Using rotation stations, they take notes to prepare to design and build their own. #experienceWCS

Mr. Weaver's Automation & Robotics classes are learning how to program robots to "see" the world around them, to control the logic, and produce outputs. #experienceWCS

Mr. McCollom's students have been working on DNA structure, replication and protein synthesis. The 7th grade students made DNA models with Twislers, marshmallows and toothpicks. They used the models to explain DNA nucleotides, hydrogen bonds and double helix. The Biology students made DNA models and explained structures such as purines, pyrimidines, 5 prime to 3 prime and nucleotides. #ExperienceLakeview #ExperienceWCS #McCollom #Science

Mr. Weaver's Medical Detectives students have been working on an experiment to test the effectiveness of antibiotics against E.coli bacteria.
