On Tuesday evening, May 13, 2025, the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) held its annual Induction Ceremony, welcoming new members and celebrating the accomplishments of 8th-grade students. The event recognized students who exemplify the NJHS pillars: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Citizenship, and Character.
Honoring Outstanding Service
Two students were highlighted for their exceptional commitment to community service:
Sofie Gonzalez dedicated over 58 hours to community service this school year and delivered an inspiring speech to her peers.
Riley Potter contributed more than 92 hours of service and spoke eloquently about the meaning of service leadership.
Community Engagement
NJHS members participated in various community service activities, including:
Assisting in local churches and neighborhoods
Sewing kerchiefs for the animal welfare shelter
Organizing and supporting food drives
Helping with Lakeview's Clothing Closet
Volunteering with Feed My Starving Children
These efforts reflect the students' dedication to making a positive impact in their communities.

Looking Ahead
NJHS sponsors Amanda Scroggs and Brenna Barrett expressed their gratitude for students moving on to WCHS and their enthusiasm for the incoming 8th-grade students and look forward to providing more opportunities for them to make a meaningful impact in the school and the wider community.
The National Junior Honor Society, established in 1929, recognizes middle school students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, citizenship, and character . Membership is based on outstanding performance in these areas, and students are expected to continue upholding these principles.
We commend all NJHS members for their dedication and contributions, embodying the values that make our community stronger.
