Lakeview’s Robotics Club fielded four teams at Friday’s 10th Annual WCS Vex Exhibition tournament.

Abigail Gordon and Isaac Dausman of Team “AI” brought home the Runner's Up plaque with the aid of alliance teammates Christopher Alonzo and Kacen Butler of team “Robot Astley.”

Club sponsor, Mr. Weaver, said, “I’m incredibly proud of all eight of the students who devoted their time and energy to build robots to compete in the 'Hoopla' tournament.  Additional competitors on this year's roster included returning 8th graders Anjelis Soewardie, Ian Cooper, and Brodey Ousley of team 'Hunned Wheels,' as well as Cameron Masterson and his robot, 'Gilbert.'  Many thanks to the parents, staff, and administrators who’ve supported our work throughout the year.”

The “Hoopla“ contest challenges students to build a competitive robot that can pick up plastic rings and score plastic rings in a timed head-to-head match.  Each year, the Secondary Robotics teachers host a different challenge, and students have limited time to build their bots to meet the challenge objective.  Students interested in participating in the exhibition next year should watch out for the club call-out in the fall or contact Mr. Weaver.  No experience is necessary to get in on the fun!

Congratulations to Mr. Weaver and his students on this outstanding achievement!
