Lakeview is proud to announce the following students who were recognized by the Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Thank you to the Lakeview staff for recommending students who have shown kindness, resilience, compassion, work ethic, empathy, and tenacity.  Students received a certificate to commemorate the occasion. They are all deserving of these accolades and are proud Lakeview Tigers!

Kacey Mitchel

“Kacey Mitchel is a delight to have in class!  She is always engaged and participates fully!  She is also a very helpful student; always willing to aid another student or run an errand for me if I need a runner.  She is bright, kind, and compassionate. I could not ask for a better student!” ~ Mrs. Kincaid

Jocelyn Luecke

"It has been my privilege to have Jocelyn in my Honors English class this year. She is a conscientious student who strives to always do her best in all that she does. She completes her work with excellence and brings value to the class with her positive attitude. As a student-athlete, she balances the demands of practices, games, and homework while maintaining excellent grades. She’s quiet, but she participates appropriately. She’s reserved, but she’s also friendly to her peers. She is helpful and kind day in and day out, which is a blessing to me as her teacher and to her classmates as well. Thank you, Jocelyn, for being a bright spot in my day." ~ April Boggs

Moses Hackenberg

"Moses Hackenberg has been in my homeroom and art classes during both 7th and 8th grade. As his homeroom teacher, I do weekly missing assignments and grade checks-Moses consistently has all his work done and excellent grades.    His accomplishments in academics are outstanding. He takes honors classes and excels, he never complains-he just gets to work and gets assignments done with a positive attitude and completely on his own. In art class, he takes to heart suggestions for improvement and strives to do his personal best!  He is a great student and adds so much to the atmosphere of Lakeview Middle School. He is a  wonderful role model for other students in other areas, too, as he is always on time, kind, considerate, responsible, and a great all-around person. It is and has been an honor to have him in class!" ~ Mrs. Keffaber

Evan Schneider

“Evan is an exemplary student, academically at the top of his class. Behaviorally he is a role model to his fellow students by coming to class on time, being prepared to work, and being an active participant in classroom discussions. Evan is a leader at Lakeview, not only in the classroom and hallways but also as an athlete on the field of competition. It is my pleasure to have Evan in class, and also on our Football team. Students like Evan Schneider, make it pleasurable to be an educator today.”- Terry Leek

Jack Boggs

“It is with great pleasure that I nominate Jack Boggs for the Optimist award. Jack has both a strong work ethic and an aptitude for science, and it has been a joy to have him in my class for the past two years. He is well-prepared for class and is able to articulate difficult science concepts. Jack is a personable young man and an excellent student who strives to exemplify the high ideals of Warsaw Community Schools. He is highly deserving of this recognition.” ~ Mark McCollom

Savannah Purdy

“In the two years I have known Savannah, I can say she is one of the most hard-working, humble individuals I know. Defining a great student is easy as they have a passion for learning that drives them to understand the material fully. Savannah takes this to another level as she is a great student as well as kind, compassionate, and respectful. Savannah strives to be the best she can be in and out of the classroom as she participates on several sports teams at LMS while holding a 4.0. Savannah is wise beyond her years and embodies every quality to receive this optimist award.” ~ James Davis

Jonah Caughell

"Jonah Caughell is the ultimate example of leadership, academia, and character at Lakeview Middle School.  This is shown through his grades, classroom leadership, and out-of-the-classroom excellence.   A story comes to mind from our 8th Grade History Class.  Recently, we did a project where students were required to define vocabulary, recognize historical connections, and write informative paragraphs about the things they were learning.  Through Jonah's rigor, he not only finished the project well ahead of his classmates but made connections in a way that I as the teacher had not thought about before.  In addition to finishing early, he then used his time to walk around and help others make the connections he had noticed. He did so in a way that highlighted his quiet leadership and inspired students to think on the level he was thinking of and that he knew they were capable of.  Jonah has this effect on all of those around him.  He uses his quiet confidence to inspire others to reach their potential and mentors them along the way.  Jonah is a special student that will use his natural ability, coupled with his rigorous work ethic, to change the social environment around him.  I am very proud of you Jonah!" ~Hunter Reed

Kami Luna

“Kami Luna is an outstanding young lady!  She has an excellent attitude, a great work ethic, and is motivated to do her very best every single day.  With a growth mindset, Kami is always asking questions and trying to improve.  She willingly participates in class discussions and is an excellent partner during cooperative group activities, making sure that everyone understands the concepts.  Kami is a model student to her peers and a pleasure to have in class.” ~ Nikki Brandt

Eduarlis Perez Rios

“Eduarlis Valentina Perez Rios said to me one Friday afternoon, minutes before the dismissal bell, that she dislikes weekends because she is not at Lakeview learning English and working with me. Daily, we see her display a contagious exuberance, a positive and kind attitude, and a friendly and welcoming disposition. She gladly offers to help other Spanish-speaking students like her when they don't understand the assignments written in English, and volunteers to guide new students throughout our school. She goes home at dismissal time, but the learning continues for her, because Eduarlis reviews everything her teachers covered during the day, and studies hard until 9 pm or 10 pm every night. Her English as a new language is developing by leaps and bounds due to the fact that she is not afraid to ask questions or make mistakes. And her empathy toward others and her big heart don't go unnoticed. She truly personifies the "Student of the Week" every single day she is present.” ~Mrs. Reichard

Shneider Vil

“It is my pleasure to recognize Shneider Vil for the Warsaw Breakfast Optimists  'Student of the Week' award.  Shneider is an amazing student who works hard and is on the honor roll at Lakeview.  He can always be counted on to give his best effort and to ask questions until he understands his classwork.  His bright and inquisitive mind is a joy in the classroom.  He is friendly and kind to staff and students.  Shneider can be counted on to help the students around him as well.  Shneider is very deserving of recognition for this award.”~ Judy Becker
