Dear LMS Families,
As I begin the final countdown and start wrapping up the 2024-25 school year, I just wanted to reach out one final time and express my gratitude for a great school year.  It has been both an honor and a privilege to serve as your student's principal.  As you know, middle school can be a daunting time for both parents and students alike.  However, it can also be a time period of tremendous growth, learning, and experience that will set our students up for future success.  As I reflect back on this past school year, I am very proud of what we've been able to accomplish as a school.  We've been able to preserve the past and the "family feel" that Lakeview has always been known for.  At the same time we are making great strides academically and behaviorally in the pursuit of our vision "to ensure all students are learning at high levels."

Here are some important highlights from this past school year that I am very proud of.

  • Feed My Starving Children- Both LMS and EMS came together and raised over $20,000.  We were able to go as a middle school TEAM (LMS and EMS) and pack meals together.  Watching over 1,000 middle school age students come together for a cause bigger than themselves was incredibly fulfilling and worthwhile.
  • Riley Children's Fundraiser- LMS raised over $2,000 to help this wonderful organization
  • Fall Dance/8th Grade Semi Formal- both of these events were a HUGE success!  Thank you to our student council and parent volunteers for helping make these events memorable experiences for our students.
  • Quarterly Celebrations and the "Lakeview Picnic"- Our students were enriched quarterly and rewarded for great behavior.  These are always fun and exciting ways to end each grading period
  • Academic Recognition and Awards Nights- Throughout the year we were able to recognize hundreds of students for their academic achievement in the classroom.  I really appreciate the families who choose to attend these important school functions. Your presence at these events demonstrates your commitment to academic achievement and shows that you value and support your child's education. We had GREAT turnout this year for these events.
  • Civic Bee Participation- Lakeview participated in the first ever community Civics Bee and came out on top.  Congrats to all our students for the extra work that was put into this competition.  Also a big shout out to Mrs. Boggs, Mrs. Studebaker, Mrs. Scroggs, and Mr. Murphy for working with our students.
  • Increased student enrollment- Over the past four years, our student enrollment has increased from approx. 450 students to close to 600.  I am very proud of the product we are able to offer our Lakeview students.
  • DLI Cohorts- We successfully "graduated" the first cohort of Dual Language Immersion students.  A big shoutout to Maria Burns and Ana Melo- Murillo for your hard work with these students over the past two years.  I am excited to see what the future holds for them at WCHS.
  • PTO  Support-  Our PTO continues to support and serve our students and teachers.  Thank you Jeri Purdy and her team for investing in our school.  You have been such a blessing over the last five years.  I encourage any parent that wants to be involved to participate in our PTO.  It is a great way to be involved in your child's education during middle school.
  • Academic Growth and Achievement
    • ILEARN-  Lakeview achieved higher on ELA and Math assessments than the state averages.  We continue to trend in the right direction on this important state assessment.
    • Biology ECA- Lakeview Middle School had a 100% pass rate on the Biology End of Course Assessment for the second year in a row.  Well done Mr. McCollom and students!
    • NWEA- 70% of all LMS students grew in either Reading or Math during the 24-25 school year.
    • WIDA- Numerous ML students passed or grew on this assessment which is very difficult.  We had 13 students meet the requirements of "early exit."  Great job Mrs. Becker and students!
    • STAMP- Our DLI students outperformed state and national "expectations"
    • Focus and Skills Classes- Over 200 students received additional support in Math, ELA, and Reading.  This extra support is critical to ensure our students are ready to be successful in high school.
    • CORE- "Connections, Opportunities, Remediation, and Enrichment" we over 12k teacher requests for students this school year to receive additional remediation, intervervention, or support during the school day.
Thank you once again for an incredible school year and for entrusting our team with your student.  I’m truly looking forward to working with our current 7th-grade students next year. They have been an exceptional group, and I’m excited to watch them continue to grow and thrive as 8th graders.
To our 8th-grade students and their families, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked with you. The Class of 2029 is truly one of the best groups to have ever passed through Lakeview. The future is bright for these young individuals, and the sky is the limit for their dreams. I will miss seeing each of them next school year, but I’m confident they will go on to accomplish great things at Warsaw Community High School in the years ahead.

Have a great summer!

Mr. Braddock- Principal Lakeview Middle School
