Academic Spotlight: Leesburg Elementary Behavior Classroom Pilot

The meeting opened with an Academic Spotlight from Leesburg Elementary, highlighting their new Behavior Classroom Pilot. Special Education Teacher Lauren Hagen and Principal Nathan Polston shared the purpose behind the pilot, along with the planning involved.

Ms. Hagen volunteered to lead the classroom while continuing to serve a full caseload. The planning included reconfiguring classroom space, adjusting caseloads and conducting site visits to similar programs. The board thanked them for their willingness to pioneer a new program.

Operations & Finance

CFO Steven Boyer provided brief updates on the Personnel Report, Out-of-State Travel, Policy Updates and the Financial Report. 

Facilities & Construction

Facilities Director Jim LeMasters shared progress on door and window upgrades at Harrison and Eisenhower, pool and facility improvements at the high school and early planning for Lakeview Phase 1, including cost-saving electrical changes. He also reported on a recent construction site visit to Fort Wayne over fall break.
