WCS To Host Back To School Open Houses

Warsaw Community Schools will welcome students and staff back to the first day of school on Tuesday, Aug. 14. In preparation for the start of school, each WCS building will host a time for parents and students to visit and tour the buildings and learn more about their child’s school.

All WCS elementary schools will host an open house from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13. Students attending the event are able to drop off their school supplies, see their classrooms and meet elementary administrative staff and teachers.

Middle school students will also have opportunities to visit their schools prior to the start of the school year. Lakeview Middle School will be open to families from 1-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3. The school will host a back to school night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16. Students wanting to tour their schedule are able to visit the building from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 2-9.

Edgewood Middle School will be open to families from 1-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1. Edgewood will host a parent and student meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22.

Warsaw Community High School invites parents and students alike to a back to school event from 3:10 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23. In addition, students are invited to visit from anytime between 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, to Thursday, Aug. 9, to walk their schedule, find their lockers and learn more about the layout of the building before the start of school.

In addition to these events, WCHS will hold Freshmen Orientation from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, in the Performing Arts Center. In order to provide added flexibility for parents and students, there will be two different presentation time slots at 5:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Parents need only to attend one of these time slots as the same information will be covered each time. These presentations allow parents to hear important information regarding the school year and meet and hear from key school figures including the freshman grade-level principal Matt Barrett.  Students will also receive their iPad at this event and have an opportunity to tour the school and learn their class schedule. All incoming freshmen students and their parents are invited and encouraged to attend. This is an important evening designed to assist students in making a smooth transition into high school. WCHS looks forward to welcoming the class of 2021 and their parents during this event

Other class-level meetings will take place during enrichment periods on Thursday, Aug. 16, to provide further information for students in each grade level.
