Warsaw Community Schools had the opportunity to honor and celebrate the 100th birthday of a former teacher. On Thursday, Nov. 2, WCS Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert visited Florence Horn, a lifetime Wayne township resident, to pay tribute to her many years shaping lives of students in the community.

Horn, a Grace College graduate, began her time with Warsaw Schools at Claypool Elementary, where she taught for nine years. She continued her tenure with WCS at Jefferson Elementary, where she helped shape the minds of kindergarten and first grade students for seven years. In 1984, Horn retired with 16 years of experience at Warsaw Schools.

When asked what tips she could share to live a long and happy life, Horn noted she has always worked hard and has continued walking a half mile every day to stay active. She plans to celebrate her 100th birthday with a special birthday lunch with her daughters.
