WCS Announces Record-Breaking Graduation Rate

The Indiana Department of Education recently announced the finalized graduation rate for Indiana high schools during the 2016-2017 school year. After reviewing student data, Warsaw Community Schools is proud to announce its best graduation rate at 95.1 percent in the past 40 years. 

Over the past 4 years, WCS has made significant strides in its efforts to improve graduation rates. Equipped with the knowledge that students who graduate from high school are less likely to suffer hardships in life, WCS created a graduation cohort to examine current student data in order to intervene on behalf of students to ensure their success in meeting their graduation goals. The cohort constantly assesses best practices through data analysis and visiting schools who have shown a marked improvement in their own graduation rates.

“We are very excited about the high graduation rate and continual growth that has occurred in our graduation rate,” stated Dr. David Hoffert, superintendent of Warsaw Community Schools. “It has been a collaborative effort between our teachers (kindergarten through senior year), administration, support staff, community organizations, parents and volunteers.”

In addition to strengthening successful practices leading to student graduation, Warsaw Community High School and Warsaw Area Career Center have also greatly expanded course offerings over the past few years. These offerings allow students a sense of engagement and relevance in their studies as well as pathways forward toward receiving not only their diploma, but college credit and workplace certifications.

Although the rigor of coursework and testing mandated by the state has increased over the years, Warsaw Community Schools students are meeting and exceeding these expectations through the commitment of students and staff alike. Warsaw Schools remains committed to inspiring and equipping all students to continuously acquire and apply knowledge and skill while pursuing their dreams and enriching the lives of others.
