Technology Coach

As a Technology Integration Coach for Warsaw Community Schools my main focus is helping teachers infuse technology into teaching in their classroom. This is done through designing and presenting workshops, working with the tech mentors and working one-on-one with teachers. I also facilitate the implementation of technology initiatives, for example; Mimio©, the migration to Office 2010 and Acuity Testing.

My primary goal is to help teachers learn new technologies within an adult learning environment by offering them abundant amounts of informal, highly customized support. A secondary goal is to assist teachers when introducing new technology or skills to their students. This could take the form of teaching/modeling the lesson, co-teaching the lesson or being available for support during the lesson.  A final goal for this year is to identify Bright Spots, those teachers who are effectively using technology and emphasizing standards-based, student-centered research.

Documents and Policies

Help Desk Guidelines:

We use the following guidelines in prioritizing requests and will strive to begin working on the problem within the target timeframe. Actual response times may be shorter or longer depending on the volume of requests at any one time.

Criteria Target Response Time*
Affects more than five individuals; or is mission critical and there is no workaround available.

Examples:  E-Mail services are not functional: Network is down: Internet is not working.
Technician will be contacted for immediate response.
Affects fewer than five people, workarounds available.

Example:  Can't check e-mail from one computer, but could use Web Mail from another computer.
Initial response within two working days.
No effect on productivitiy, or unsupported software.

Examples:  Monitor showing b/w instead of color, CD player has no sound.
Best effort as time allows.

* Target Response Time is defined as the time between receipt of the incident or call that a Technician begins working on the problem. Due to the wide diversity of issues and the methods needed to resolve them, response time is not defined as the time between the receipt of the call the the problem's resolution.

Helpdesk Protocols:

Preferred method of communication to Technology Department:
Use Eduphoria - http://helpdesk.warsaw.k12.in.us

Why?
Sends issue directly to technician in the building.
Sends email confirmation to parties
Records requests more accurately than email.
Collects data, tracks productivitiy, tracks inventory, reserves facilities, manages online forms.

Other methods of communication:
Call building tech or call helpdesk x2488.

Can be used if Eduphoria is down.
Tech will enter the ticket manually.

Example:  Once service requests are entered into our help desk system, Eduphoria, users receive an e-mail message verifying that a new request has been opened. The request gets assigned to the Technician in the user’s building. The Helpdesk Manager monitors all forms of incoming requests for service and assigns or re-assigns resources. The technician closes the request entering a written resolution of the problem for future reference.
When a request is closed, the customer receives notification via e-mail.
