The WCHS Music Department had a very successful weekend at the Indiana State School Music Association contests held over the weekend. Both the band and choral groups had great performances.
The WCHS Concert Band earned a Gold rating at the on Friday night at Northridge High School in Middlebury. The concert band received a Gold rating for their performance of three prepared pieces and another Gold rating for sight-reading. The band is under the direction of Emily Mikel.
The combined Beginning Choirs performed Saturday morning at Snider High School in Fort Wayne and also came away from the contest with all gold ratings. The choir is under the direction of Scott Avery.
An opportunity to hear groups from the music department will be tomorrow night (Tuesday April 24) in the Performing Arts Center. The concert begins at 7:00pm, when the WCHS Festival Choir will perform. The WCHS Concert Band will perform at 7:30, followed by the WCHS Wind Ensemble under the direction of Mickey Ratliff. The Festival Choir and Wind Ensemble will perform the pieces they have prepared for State Qualification contest, which takes place on Saturday, April 28th, at Chesterton High School. The Concert Band will perform the program they prepared for contest. The concert is free of charge and the public is invited.

Showcase Concert
The Warsaw Community High School Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and Select Chorale/Concert Choir will present their spring “Showcase Concert”, on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. The concert will held in the Performing Arts Center Auditorium at Warsaw Community High School beginning with Choir at 7:00 p.m. The bands will begin at 7:30 p.m.

PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL MATHEMATICS COMPETITION
A student at Warsaw Community High School participated in the 30th annual American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). Josh Miller, a freshman, qualified for the AIME by scoring in the top 2.5% of the American Mathematics Contest 10. The AIME was held on Thursday, March 15, 2012.
