We Appreciate You, Mr. Tom Ray!
In May of 2012 my husband was offered a position at Zimmer. We were excited because we had always wanted to live in a smaller town. Moving from Chicago to Warsaw was completely overwhelming, especially when my husband moved two months before us.
I started researching the school district and looking at the different schools. We didn't know where we were going to live but I liked the STEM Academy model at Washington.
I called the school in June to get some information. A gentleman answered the phone and was just as polite as can be answering my questions. I didn't know who he was but he talked to me for about an hour about the school, school district, the community, and what a wonderful place Warsaw was for families.
It wasn't until the end of our conversation that he told me he was Tom Ray, the Principal at Washington STEM Academy.
I was shocked! I can pretty much guarantee that no school principal in Chicago would take that kind of time to talk to a parent.
After I got off the phone with him I felt calmer and more confident about our move.
We've lived in Warsaw for two years and both my children attend Washington. It is such a special place for children to learn and grow through STEM. It has been pretty amazing to see Mr. Ray's committment to the students, families, and to building a culture of quality education.
Our family is truly grateful. This story of appreciation was submitted by Mrs. Lindsey Brander. Do you have a story to tell to show your appreciation for a WCS employee? Click here to share!
