Mrs. Sproul's kindergarten students have been researching owls. The librarian, Connie Watters, took Mrs. Sproul and her students out into the woods around Leesburg to see a family of owls in their nest. The students were able to see the owls in their nest and another owl flying around. They also were able to see other bird nests as well.
Pre-registration for all Warsaw Community Schools begins today, Monday, April 21, 2014. Families that currently attend WCS are encouraged to pre-register their children for the 2014-2015 school year. Pre-registration can be accomplished using the WCS PowerSchool system. Log-in information was sent to families prior to spring break. However, if parents and/or guardians are in need of student log-in information, they should contact the student's school. The last day to pre-register is May 30, 2014.
This new process of pre-registration will be a time-saving benefit to families during the fall final registration dates. Final registration dates are July 30, 31 and August 1, 2014.
Ms. Megan Kendall's first grade students are researching animals. The librarian, Ms. Biltz, taught the students how to use the iPad minis to search the Britannica Schools database and the A to Z Animals professional website to find information. The students are also using book sources for their projects.
Recently Mrs. Kinsey's fourth grade class from Harrison Elementary participated in a national reading contest through Achieve 3000, an online reading program. Students read articles at their level and completed comprehension activities and earned points for completion and accuracy. The winning classes were determined by the highest average points scored, per student, within each district.Continue reading
